Skateboarding in Africa

While I'm in Ethiopia, my weekends are free (gulp), so I've contact the Ethiopian Skateboarding Park Project (ESPP) to see if I can be of help to them. Jon Burns, marketing manager at ESPP, has been so supportive and helpful in my efforts to collect skateboards and GoPros for them that I feel like I already have a friend in Africa!

I added Kenya to my trip for a few days for no other reason than that I'm "in the neighborhood," so got in contact with Leo Kilel from the Skateboard Society of Kenya. He's going to schedule an event while I'm there the first weekend in June that I'm already looking forward to helping with.

Thanks to Tim Ward and his Skate After School program for donating skateboards!

Thanks to GoPro for donating a HD Hero 2 cameras!

Thanks to Neal Hendrix for donating skateboards!

I'm hoping that I'll also be able to thank Turkish Airlines for allowing me to bring along 173 pounds of skateboards at no charge ... fingers crossed ...

Jon Burns, marketing manager of ESPP, sent me these photos from Ethiopia:
