Keeping Clean in Asko

As the Mercy Ministry House has no running water, staying clean is a bit of a challenge. Here’s the nightly routine:

Robin and I each take turn filling this pot with water from the outside water barrel.
We put it on the electric burner in the kitchen to warm.

I bring the pot upstairs to my bedroom; I brought liquid soap and a washcloth and towel from home.
Wash.
I typically go first (I think Robin has been sympathetic to my newness here and therefore my anxiousness to get cleaned up), pour my used water down the commode (smart, right?), then refill the pot outside for Robin and put it on the burner for her. While possible, I didn’t bother washing my hair during my first week, mostly to save myself the hassle, I guess.

I brush my teeth with bottled water; tricky but doable and I had lots of practice in India. It's easy to remember to do this when no water comes out of the faucet ... harder to remember to not run your brush under the water when the faucet does work!
